With Colorado’s 365 days of sunshine, al fresco dining (outdoor dining) is an ideal activity and quite popular. The term ‘al fresco’ conjures romantic images of dining in the fresh, open air while enjoying a comfortable seat with a relaxing atmosphere. Combined with the appeal of the unfettered picnic and the civility of chairs, silverware and glass stemware, it’s no wonder al fresco dining spots are highly sought after.

If you are searching for unique and innovative outdoor dining spots this fall, consider an industrial warehouse vibe or perhaps a restaurant patio with an award-winning chef is calling your name, whatever your preference, we invite you to check out these fun al fresco dining spots.

These featured businesses are following CDC’s Social Distancing Guidelines and are committed to the health and safety of customers and staff. All tables are placed to meet within limited seating capacity to 50% and all kindly require guests to wear masks when not seated at their tables.

La Dolce Vita ~ The Good Life

Bella Cucina Giardino – an Epicurean concept

Our first stop finds us at Bella Cucina Giardino, a lovely multi-use terrace that serves as a tasting room as well as a sought-after destination venue for private events.

“This charming terrace was built on the Italian philosophy of having an open kitchen and sharing food,” says Larry DiPasquale, founder and owner of Bella Cucina Giardino and Epicurean Hospitality Group.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a warm welcome and invited to the terrace to participate in a traditional Italian game of Bocce while enjoying a glass of wine. The terrace also showcases a lovely Tuscan-inspired reception area featuring a living garden and a large kitchen and dining area. Herbs and vegetables are grown on hydroponic towers allowing guests a glimpse of viewing the farm-to-table concept.

The main attraction is the dining area which was furnished with a warm and inviting family atmosphere. This casual, comfortable space, which accommodates up to 60 guests, beckons you to relax in comfort. From the hand-crafted 24-foot dining table, the centered fireplace and window archways to the Epicurean-inscribed Marra Forni wood-burning pizza oven, this reimagined space embraces the good life.

Bella Cucina Giardino is the perfect outdoor dining setting for an intimate cocktail reception under the market lights or a private pasta making class with an award winning Epicurean Group chef.

We highly recommend this adorable secluded venue to entertain our smaller private parties. The pizza is crafted with the freshest of local ingredients and pairs nicely with a glass of Chianti.

New Places, Safe Spaces

EXDO Event Center

Recently, John Tobey Events were guests at a party held at the newly opened Rainbow Alley, an exceptional outdoor space at EXDO Event Center in Denver’s vibrant River North (RiNo) Art District.

EXDO Event Center is a 1940s warehouse, known for producing film reels during the Golden Age of Hollywood, and is now an iconic space for Denver’s legendary events.

Rainbow Alley is a welcome addition to this modern and versatile event venue. This cozy, open-air space, located in the alley way between the brick warehouses, boasts astro turf flooring, industrial warehouse lighting and colorful umbrellas creating an eye-catching overhead canopy. During our visit, we were pleased to learn two large EXDO branded tents have been added to the outdoor astro turf, parking area and serves as a safe space for up to 175 guests.

CEO and Managing Partner, Andrew Feinstein shared, “Rainbow Alley is Denver’s newest option for al fresco dining events for groups ranging from 25 to 50. We are happy to announce that any event booking will include dedicated staff, bartending service, food service and, upon request, live or recorded entertainment.”

Al fresco dining can happen anywhere, from restaurants to courtyards, terraces to rooftop dining spots as well as hidden gems throughout Denver’s metro area, however, if it’s a one-of-a-kind vibe you are searching for, Rainbow Alley is not to be missed.

A Grace is like no other

Guard and Grace

At John Tobey Events, we are all about an outdoor terrace with a stunning view, impeccable service and an outstanding New American menu, which explains why Guard and Grace, a contemporary steakhouse with a raw bar, is one of our favorites.

Named for chef-turned-restaurateur Troy Guard and his daughter, Guard and Grace is located in Denver’s central business district. Recognized for the design as well as the food, this 9,000 square foot space is a take on the big, fancy, modern steakhouse making it ideal for open air dining. The space is filled with natural light, clean lines and a sense of vibrancy, not to mention the bathroom tiles are inked with rock n’ roll band names in black sharpie.

Upon entering, there’s no missing the impressive open kitchen which serves as the centerpiece of the restaurant and showcases quality ingredients and innovative combinations with an emphasis on wood-fired dishes. The menu is sourced locally and features the finest prime steaks and freshest seafood, charcuterie and artisanal cheeses, starters that include Alaskan Snow Crab and Oak Fired Octopus, our personal favorite and much more.

We invite you to visit with us about how we can bring restaurant-quality, chef-inspired cuisine to your next event.

Larimer’s Square Distinctive Dining Destination

TAG | Continental Social Food

Located in the heart of Denver’s oldest and most historic block, TAG | Continental Social Food, represents a culmination of Chef Troy Guard’s travel experiences and draws from his Hawaiian upbringing and travels in Asia and Latin America. The playful, culinary cuisine, melds classic and contemporary styles in a chic urban atmosphere to inspire a sense of community among friends. “The food is unconstrained by national boundaries, a culinary journey,” says Chef Troy.

From the open concept kitchen and chef’s counter seats, to the vibrant ten-seat bar, we absolutely love the TAG experience. Showcasing what’s fresh in Colorado, combined with Asian inspiration, Hawaiian roots and a dash of latin flare.

“Larimer Square’s longtime Dining Al Fresco series is always a hit, so we’ve taken that format and are so happy to offer socially distant dining out under the lights of Larimer. And with Colorado’s weather, it’s a perfect way to enjoy a meal. Being a narrow and historic building, expanding our footprint outside of our walls is critical to TAG’s success, and we’re having a lot of fun in the process.”
